The winter season is such a vital time to stay healthy. However, it’s so easy to get sick! The cold air, the parties, and the over-indulgence can take its toll on your health.
There is a lot you can do to help your body during the cold season. These are some simple ideas to stay active and healthy during winter.
While it might be the time of the year when I want to stay cuddled in a blanket all day, it’s important to get out and get moving for at least 30 minutes!
There are a ton of ways to do this, but my favorite happens to be going for a quick walk. Yes, that means getting outside! Be sure to dress in warm clothes! Use motivation like walking to the store down the street for a drink or walk down your road to take pictures. But do something to get out and get active!
Wash your hands and face
The winter season and the holidays are an amazing time to visit friends and family and indulge. However, just make sure that you are keeping your hands and face clean and dry.
I usually grab some hand sanitizer and keep it in my purse for these kinds of events. It’s so easy to grab and put some on the kid’s hands after they have been around a lot of people or when we have just finished a shopping run.
Also, as a reminder, if you constantly touch your face, then you could be spreading more germs!
These simple habits will help you keep germs away from your family!
I love to bake and cook warm dinners during the winter season. However, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing! Make sure that you are fueling your body with good, wholesome foods. Don’t eat too many sweets. This will give your body a chance to fight off germs and it will give your body the proper nutrients that it needs to stay well.
Clean your counters
Another simple tip to stay healthy during the cold winter season is to wipe down counters and anything else that has a lot of traffic. Remember to wipe down door handles and car seats once in a while too. This will prevent germs from spreading.
Avoid too much alcohol and drink more water
Keeping hydrated will give your body more ammunition to keeping bugs away. Alcohol dehydrates our bodies. If we drink large amounts of alcohol and we don’t do anything to put good liquids in our bodies, then our immune system can’t fight germs and bugs.
Get enough sleep
Your body can’t recuperate if it doesn’t get the proper amount of rest that it requires. The holiday season might be a time of parties and events but always be sure to get enough sleep, especially if you feel like you might be coming down with something! This is my #1 way to fight off the beginning of a cold!
